What we can and can't take away

Published · Updated

Apex accepts enquiries for household rubbish, furniture, appliances, garden materials and non-hazardous trade waste. Asbestos, paint, oils, fuel, chemicals, gas bottles and clinical waste are not accepted by this service. Check unfamiliar materials before agreeing a collection.

Items to describe in your enquiry

  • Sofas, beds, wardrobes, tables and other unwanted furniture.
  • Mattresses, fridges, freezers, washing machines and other appliances — identify these explicitly.
  • Bagged household rubbish, boxes, clothing and clutter.
  • Branches, cuttings, turf, fencing and unwanted garden materials.
  • Rubble, bricks, concrete, soil, timber, plasterboard and non-hazardous building waste.
  • Shop packaging, office furniture and other commercial materials.

Heavy and specialist materials

Soil and rubble can be heavy even in a small pile. Appliances, mattresses and upholstered furniture also have specific disposal requirements. List the materials separately and show the full amount so they can be assessed in the quote.

Excluded hazardous materials

  • Asbestos or suspected asbestos.
  • Paint, oils, fuel and solvents.
  • Chemicals and other hazardous waste.
  • Gas bottles.
  • Clinical and medical waste.

Do not mix unidentified or hazardous material into bags of general rubbish. Check your council or a specialist provider for an appropriate disposal route; local acceptance rules vary.

What happens next

Send your postcode, description and optional photos. We review the waste and access and reply with a quote. Timing is agreed with you, and a waste transfer note is provided for the collection.
